Sandals Opens Bookings For Royal Curacao All-Inclusive Resort

Last year we reported that Sandals purchased Curacao’s Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Course, after the property closed its doors in June 2020 due to the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel chain has now opened bookings for its new Sandals Royal Curacao all-inclusive resort, a renovated 44-acre property which sits close to the seaside within the 3,000-acre Santa Barbara estate in Newport, Curacao.

For those familiar with the resort’s history, this hotel was initially opened as the Hyatt Regency Curacao, but was rebranded the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort after Hyatt’s management failed to attract sufficient guests to keep the resort profitable. Years after the rebranding, the resort still failed to impress, losing money well before the pandemic. The hotel was eventually closed and then sold off to Sandals.

What’s new

Sandals has since begun work to transform the aging property into something completely new with the hopes of opening its doors on April 14, 2022. The all-inclusive resort will feature 351 rooms over 24 different room categories. The upgraded resort will include two additional suite categories called the Awa Seaside Bungalows and Kurason Island Suites, both of which offer additional privacy, butler service, private pools, and soaking tubs.

To top it off, guests staying at suites in any of these two categories will also have access to their very own MINI Cooper convertible which they can use to roam around the island.
