Kuwait Airways Boeing 777 Door Torn Off After Jet Bridge Collapse At Dhaka

A Kuwait Airways Boeing 777-300ER parked at one of the gates at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka lost one of its doors after the jet bridge connected to the aircraft suddenly collapsed.

On November 6, 2024, a Kuwait Airways Boeing 777-300ER registered 9K-AOJ completed flight KU283 from Kuwait City (KWI) to Dhaka (DAC). While the aircraft was parked at the gate, the connected jet bridge suddenly collapsed, tearing the open door off its hinges.

Group Captain Quamrul Islam, executive director of HSIA said that “at the time of the incident, only the pilot and cabin crew were on board.” He also added that no passengers were present during the incident.

An investigation was launched to determine the cause of the jet bridge failure. The returning flight KU284 was canceled and passengers were provided hotel accommodations and re-booked on later flights. At the time of publishing, the aircraft was still at Dhaka.
