Barbados, sometimes referred to as Little England or the England of the Caribbean, is a popular Caribbean tourist destination, especially amongst Europeans.

There are lots of hotels to choose from when planning to stay in Barbados, but unfortunately, many of them have seen better days. Thankfully this will no longer be the case as there are a number of new developments are in the works, along with existing hotels undergoing extensive renovations. For instance, the very tired Hilton Barbados Resort had its rooms redone in 2024.

Besides the opening of the 422-room Wyndham Grand Barbados Resort in early 2024, other projects have entered the pipeline including a Hyatt Ziva, Hotel Indigo, Royalton, Pendry, and Sandals Beaches Resort.

For those following the development of IHG’s boutique Hotel Indigo Bridgetown Barbados, the 132-room ocean-view hotel was initially set to open as early as May 2025, however later estimates pushed their guest acceptance date to November 1, 2025.

Unfortunately, it seems they’ll miss this deadline, and have announced that they are now accepting reservations for stays from January 1, 2026 and beyond.

Located on the southern shoreline in Hastings on the site of the now-demolished Caribbee Hotel, Hotel Indigo Bridgetown Barbados will offer 132 rooms with an on-site restaurant, rooftop bar, and fitness center, with access to Hortons Beach.

That’s as much as I know, but I’m sure we will get more details from IHG as the opening date draws closer. Maybe a review will be in order once I feel more confident about their opening date.
