Delta’s first Boeing 777-200 receives Delta One Suites retrofit

Fans of Delta One Suite cabins can rejoice as the airline has started retrofitting its fleet of 18 777-200s (ER and LR combinations) with its updated business class, premium economy and economy products.

Aviation journalist Jason Rabinowitz snapped a few photos of the completed retrofit on the airline’s first 777-200 during a media preview on Friday.

The new Delta One Suites are cubicle-styled business class seats which are fully lie-flat, and even feature a door which can be closed for added privacy. By U.S. standards, their product is definitely one of the better offerings. Those traveling in Premium Select (Premium Economy) benefit from slightly wider seats with a 2-4-2 configuration and 38 inches of pitch, while economy passengers can breathe a bit easier in a 3-3-3 configuration with 31-32 inches of pitch versus the tighter 3-4-3 config on other competing airlines operating 777s.

Unfortunately, the aircraft will be used mostly on Asian routes out of Detroit with this aircraft operating interchangeably with the A350s on the Detroit (DTW)/Beijing (PEK) route from July 2.
