Get ready for some fun in the sun as Avelo Airlines plans to make its first foray outside of the mainland U.S. with flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Starting in mid-November 2023, Avelo will add two weekly flights each out of two of its bases: New Haven, Connecticut and Wilmington, Delaware. The flight schedules are as follows:
- New Haven (HVN) – San Juan (SJU) – Wednesdays and Saturdays (starting November 15, 2023)
- San Juan – New Haven – Wednesdays and Saturdays (starting November 15, 2023)
- Wilmington (ILG) – San Juan – Wednesdays and Saturdays (starting November 15, 2023)
- San Juan – Wilmington – Wednesdays and Saturdays (starting November 15, 2023)
Avelo will also add another non-stop flight out of Wilmington, this time to Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ), with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays starting from November 2, 2023. These three flights are expected to be operated with their larger 189-seater Boeing 737-800s.
Regarding the expansion out of Connecticut, Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said:
“With a large and increasing number of Puerto Ricans calling Connecticut home, this service will make reconnecting with friends and family easier and more affordable than ever. And with winter right around the corner, this Caribbean island treasure is the latest example of how Avelo is inspiring travel in new and exciting ways for Southern Connecticut.”
As for the Delaware/San Juan and Sarasota expansion, Levy said:
“Avelo is making it easier than ever for friends and family to reconnect on both ends of this exciting new Caribbean route. And with winter right around the corner, San Juan and Sarasota are the latest examples of how Avelo is inspiring travel across the region with an irresistible mix of popular destinations to choose from.”
Avelo has done well for itself, particularly out of Wilmington, with service to a number of cities in South Florida, the Carolinas, as well as Nashville. With these new additions, Avelo will be serving 47 destinations spread across 25 states and one U.S. territory.
To celebrate the launch, customers can purchase introductory one-way fares to San Juan for as low as $99, while those traveling to Sarasota can book one-way flights for as low $49 during the limited time period.
