Ultra-low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines has announced massive east coast expansion plans, improving connectivity within the United States, along with the addition of one new Caribbean destination.
The carrier has added 13 new routes to its network, and will now fly to three new cities including Nassau (NAS), Bahamas, Grand Rapids (GRR), and New York/Islip (ISP). These routes will be served with their fleet of Boeing 737 NG aircraft.
In a statement, Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We continue to Inspire Travel by growing our network at our newest bases. We’re adding three new destinations, including our fourth international location – Nassau, Bahamas. These 13 new routes offer our customers even more choices, making it easier and more affordable than ever for our customers to get where they want to go.”
Besides increasing its presence within the United State, Avelo continues to expand further south. They already serve three Caribbean destinations including San Juan (SJU), Puerto Rico; Punta Cana (PUJ), Dominican Republic; Montego Bay (MBJ), Jamaica; as well as Cancun (CUN), Mexico.
Reacting to the news, Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation said:

“As a tourism and aviation destination leader, this service further affirms The Bahamas Government’s commitment to working closely with airline partners and industry stakeholders to aggressively grow air stopover arrivals throughout The Islands of The Bahamas.”
