Avelo Airlines is on a roll adding a third base exactly one year after the company commenced operations on April 28, 2021.
The company announced a few days ago that it has selected Orlando, Florida to be its third base. Initially they plan to fly to three destinations (not counting Tweed New Haven) from June 30, 2022, with plans to expand to up to 10 airports. The New Haven-Orlando route will also be bumped up to 19x flights per week, with 3 flights per day on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Operations to the first three cities out of Orlando are as follows:
Avelo Airlines Founder, Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Avelo is poised for continued growth as we add more planes, more Crewmembers, more destinations and more bases — including our new base in Orlando. I’m very appreciative of the warm reception The Sunshine State has greeted Avelo with since we began flying here last November. I’m looking forward to the positive economic and community impact Avelo will make in Orlando and across Florida as we increase our investment here in the years ahead.”
Besides the new routes out of Orlando, the airline will also offer seasonal service out of Wilmington three days per week to Baltimore-Washington between July 1 and November 7, 2022. Introductory one-way fares start at $29 (plus taxes). Like its New Haven operations, Avelo will be keep its southern operations uniform, also using Boeing 737-700s. They plan to start operations in Orlando with 2 737s, with plans to add 2 more later in the year.
