Red Sea Double Opening: Miraval And Four Seasons Now Welcoming Guests

Saudi Arabia is hoping that its Red Sea Project will become the next Maldives or Bora Bora. Located between Al Wajh and Umluj along the Saudi west coast, this project is a luxury tourism and hospitality initiative being developed by Red Sea Global (RSG), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia.

While there are hotels and resorts spread across different parts of the development, Shura Island will have the most, with 11 resorts when fully completed. In October 2025, Marriott was the first to launch The Red Sea EDITION. IHG followed up, opening the InterContinental The Red Sea Resort in December. A month later, Accor would soft launch the SLS Red Sea brand at the end of January.

Fast forward to the end of May and there two more openings to take note of.

Miraval The Red Sea

Miraval, Hyatt’s luxury wellness resort and spa brand, has launched its fourth resort, and the first outside of the United States with the opening of Miraval The Rea Sea.

Designed by Foster + Partners with interiors by Rockwell Group, the adults-only, all-inclusive luxury wellness retreat features 180 units split between rooms, suites and villas. There are also 39 treatment rooms at its Life In Balance spa spanning over 40,000 square feet, and is currently one of the largest spas on Shura Island.

As it is an all-inclusive, almost everything is complimentary, including meals, drinks (non-alcoholic), transportation, activities such as yoga, fitness, hiking and so on, with daily spa credits being given (which can be combined if you stay for more than one night).

There are three restaurant concepts if you’re just looking at regular dining, as well as the option to take part in cooking classes and workshops, which your spa credits can also be used towards.

Four Seasons Red Sea

The Four Seasons continues to expand its global footprint, opening the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island. Located to the very east of the island, the resort offers a mix of 149 rooms and 31 residences, offering views of either the garden area, sea, or beach front.

Like many of the hotels on Shura Island, each unit has a large sliding doors offering a great view, with a sitting area just in front with easy access to the beach. The Four Seasons is also offering two private residential options including 43 Dune Villas and 32 Waterside Villas.

The resort is opened to all ages, with six restaurants and lounges (drinks are non-alcoholic), three pools, and a spa. Guests also have access to a gym area, tennis courts, and even the nearby Shura Links 18-hole golf course. Like other Four Seasons resorts, guests will have to pay separately for their preferred experiences rather than benefiting from an all-inclusive package like what is offered at Miraval.

The Red Sea Project seems to be quite an interesting development. It’s hard to say yet how successful this endeavor is. In 2025, the entire project saw about 50,000 visitors in 2025, peaking at 82% capacity during the final 10 days of Ramadan. Even when the project is at full steam, they still will not push to break records, capping visitor numbers to just about one million per year.

However, the 2026 conflict in the middle east has put a bit of a damper on tourist travel to the area. Even though the Red Sea Project is well away from the epicenter of the drama, there is still some hesitancy, even though all resorts have returned to normal operations. It will be interesting to see what the final tourist numbers look like at the end of 2026.
