Just a day ago I talked about Qatar Airways making big strides to upgrade its fleet to Starlink Wi-Fi, and now we see yet another airline group announcing that they’ve jumped onto the train.

The Lufthansa Group plans to outfit its entire group of aircraft (just about 850 units) with Starlink transceivers, and will also have them installed on all new planes joining the conglomerate. The main brands being targeted include Lufthansa, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Eurowings, Eurowings Europe, ITA Airways, Swiss International Air Lines and Edelweiss Air.

Like all others using the service, they will benefit from vastly improved download speeds, giving them the ability to livestream content, increase work productivity in the air, play online video gaming, and handle any other high-speed application with ease.

“In our anniversary year, in which we are celebrating Lufthansa’s 100th birthday, we have decided to introduce a new high-speed internet solution from Starlink for all our airlines. The Lufthansa Group is taking the next step and setting an essential milestone for the premium travel experience of our customers. Connectivity on board plays an important role today, and with Starlink, we are not only investing in the best product on the market, but also in the satisfaction of our passengers,” said Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group.

Details are still very limited at this time. So far, the airline conglomerate plans to roll out the service incrementally starting in mid-2026, and wants to have the entire fleet covered by 2029. Like many other carriers, even though the service is free, you’ll have to have Miles & More Travel ID (Lufthansa’s rewards program) account in order to use it. It’s not a huge deal though as anyone can sign up for free.
