Arajet has finally made its debut flight to the United States, touching down in Miami on April 11, 2025.

The service which was operated by one of their Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft was fully booked, carrying 189 passengers from Santo Domingo (SDQ) to Miami (MIA).

“This is a historic moment for Arajet and for the entire Dominican Republic,” said Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO of Arajet. “This first flight to Miami, the capital of Latin America, is just the beginning of our commitment to offering efficient and more affordable travel for our passengers. Connecting this city as the beginning for North America will promote tourism and business and cultural exchanges between both nations.”

Following the Dominican Republic and United States signing a bilateral open skies agreement in December 2024, Arajet has since announced routes to three U.S. cities including Miami, Newark and San Juan. Besides Santo Domingo, the carrier will also launch flights between Punta Cana (PUJ) and Miami starting on June 13, 2025.

Due to the overwhelming demand for flights to Miami, Arajet will bump up service from both Dominican Republic cities to daily service starting this summer. Daily flights start as early as June 14 for flights between Santo Domingo and Miami. At the time of posting, I saw six weekly flights from early July between Punta Cana and Miami, but I suspect that will increase to daily service closer to the time.

Besides this latest update, Arajet will launch its San Juan (SJU) service from both hub in early June. They will fly four times weekly from Santo Domingo from June 4, 2025, and three times weekly from Punta Cana starting on June 6.

Flights to Newark (EWR) will commence two weeks later, with daily service from Santo Domingo starting on June 16, 2025. I wouldn’t be surprised if Punta Cana is eventually added to the lineup.
