MGM Resorts has been hard at work renovating the MGM Grand Las Vegas’ 4,212 rooms, with a December 2025 estimated completion time.
With a budget of $300 million, MGM Grand’s dated rooms are finally getting a much-needed facelift, inspired by the “flair of the disco era”.
“MGM Grand has long been recognized as the center of entertainment and excitement in Las Vegas and these newly remodeled rooms, coupled with new attractions on the horizon, demonstrate our commitment to evolving the guest experience for both leisure and business travelers,” said Mike Neubecker, President & COO of MGM Grand. “These new rooms are a significant milestone in the property’s evolution as MGM Grand positions itself for the exciting developments set for the south end of The Strip.”
In partnership with architecture firm Gensler, the rooms mix both modern and old-school disco era themes, including new artwork, space-saving wall-mounted TVs and upgrade infotainment systems, enhanced blackout curtains, and a mix and match of brighter-colored materials to give rooms a more spacious feel.
The bathrooms have also been upgraded with walk-in glass showers, porcelain-finished countertops, integrated closet spaces, and illuminated mirrors.
King rooms have a warmer theme with walnut finishes and gray textured walls while Queen rooms have lighter gray stone finishes. The media console features charging ports for AC, USB A and USB C devices. They’ve also included Smart TVs allowing you to access your favourite content via a number of popular streaming services.
Separate in-room refrigerators for guest-use are finally a thing, and I’d personally say this has been one of the main reasons I’ve overlooked staying at the MGM Grand. Who really wants to pay $50 a night extra to keep a few items cold?
The remodelling project will also add 111 suites to the main tower for a total of 753, ranging in size from 675 to 2,572 square feet. These suites also benefit from an upgrade, featuring a combination of dark ebony and walnut wood finishes, complementing the lighter themes throughout the room.
The first batch of remodelled rooms will go on sale from March 1, 2025. MGM hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with press photos, but here are a few from Las Vegas Locally when the project was first started.
Besides these renovations, the MGM Grand has partnered with Netflix to launch the Netflix Bites restaurant on the casino floor. Opening on February 20, the new restaurant will feature meals inspired from shows including Stranger Things, Bridgerton, Squid Game, Chef’s Table, and others.
Here are a few examples from their menu.
- Eleven’s Fried Feast – Crispy chicken and waffle sliders perfect for foodies who love a little dimension-hopping, served both “Hawkins” style and “Upside Down” style.
- Bridgerton Regency Tea – A lavish three-tiered tea service with finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries straight from the ton, served with a menu designed by Lady Whistledown herself.
- La Casa del Sangria – A Spanish-style cocktail with gold-dusted mint leaves, served in a lockbox that’ll have guests solving a puzzle — challenging for even the sharpest of the Money Heist crew.
- Too Hot to Handle-inspired Bloody Mary – A cocktail so spicy it comes with its own pot holder in case guests can’t handle the heat!
Being on the ground floor, guests from the Signature at MGM Grand also have easy access from just across the hall.
