Turks and Caicos-based InterCaribbean has its sights set on Trinidad, aiming to enter the market in late 2025.

In an interview with the Trinidad Guardian at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, the airline’s CEO Trevor Sadler said the company has held off on entering the Trinidad market to deal with administrative issues on their end, and are looking at adding additional aircraft to their fleet.

Sadler also dispelled rumors suggesting that the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) was behind the airline’s delayed entry into the Trinidad market.

No further details were provided, but InterCaribbean will most likely launch flights between Barbados (BGI) and Trinidad (POS). Given that Barbados is one of the carrier’s hubs, passengers have a wide range of destinations to choose from if they wish to further connect within the Caribbean.

Travelers can fly on to Guyana, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and a number of islands in the Eastern Caribbean.

When they do enter service, they will be going up against both Caribbean Airlines and LIAT20.

InterCaribbean has a mixed fleet of aircraft, operating ATR 42 and 72-500s, Embraer ERJ-120 and -145s, and as of recent, started wet-leasing a Cemair-operated Bombardier/Mitsubishi CRJ-900.

Other airlines eyeing Trinidad and Tobago

Four airlines have Trinidad and Tobago on their radar, with plans to start operations within the next two years. Both Spirit Airlines and WestJet previously operated flights to Port of Spain, and are looking at a 2026 return date. Spirit will most likely operate flights to Ft. Lauderdale (FLL), while WestJet will resume flights to Toronto Pearson (YYZ).

Dominican-Republic’s Arajet plans to start scheduled service some time in 2026, and will operate flights to Punta Cana (PUJ) and/or Santo Domingo (SDQ). Arajet technically is not a new entrant to Trinidad, but only flew in on a charter basis on behalf of leisure travel agencies.

Finally, Colombia’s Avianca will be soon offer non-stop service between Trinidad and Bogota (BOG), making it much easier to connect to South America. Service is expected to start at the end of 2025 pending the two countries signing an air services agreement.
