InterCaribbean continues expansion within the Caribbean, starting service from Barbados (BGI) to Trinidad (POS) on March 8. The service which will run four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, will go up against Caribbean Airlines which already operates almost 20 flights weekly between the two islands. The Barbados/Trinidad route is obviously quite popular as Liat Air also plans to enter the market in July with plans to operate two weekly flights.
InterCaribbean will use their fleet of ATR 42-500s to operate these flights. This isn’t the carrier’s only new destination, as they will also launch flights out of Barbados to St. Maarten (SXM) on that same day, with twice daily service. On March 9, they will launch two more routes to Tortola (EIS), and Georgetown (OGL) in Guyana. The Ogle route is their second entry into Guyana, as they already fly to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Timehri.

“Barbados is central to regional connectivity in the Caribbean, and we are investing in growth,” said Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean Airways.
“With these additions, we’re putting more aircraft and more frequencies into Barbados, giving travellers access to our full Caribbean network, from Guyana to Jamaica to Turks & Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, and now to St. Maarten and Trinidad.”
Besides the Barbados hub expansion, InterCaribbean will also launch service between Tortola and St. Maarten, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays, starting on March 12, 2026. They will also continue the Providenciales (PLS) to Barbados route, keeping the three times weekly schedule between the two islands.
Starting in the Turks and Caicos, InterCaribbean has grown significantly, with three hubs in Barbados, the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos. Even though they operate generally older aircraft, they are slowly progressing towards larger and more modern fleet. For instance, they have taken on eight ATR 42-500s, which replace their much older Embraer EMB 120s.
They are also in the process of acquiring up to eight Embraer E170s which they plan to use as part of their first foray into the United States. So far, at least three have been delivered and will be updated and repainted before being introduced to the fleet.
