In January I talked about the state of the hospitality market in Tobago. So far, at least two major brands are set to enter the market within the next few years, that being Marriott and a shared Hyatt Secrets and Dreams property.

Most recently, local government officials have also re-entered talks with Sandals Resorts, but these talks are still in the early stages.

Then there is the Elephant Tree Beach Club and Villas at Roxborough. When the project was first announced, the developers planned to work with Choice Hotels, but due to a conflict of interest, they were left to find a new hotel partner.

The search is over as Hilton has announced that is has signed an agreement with the developers to open the Elephant Tree Resort and Villas Tobago, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in 2028.

The Tapestry Collection is part of Hilton’s boutique hotel portfolio, with each hotel offering an upscale and locally-inspired experience.

The beachfront property, which will be managed by Hotel Equities on behalf of Hilton, will offer 40 guest rooms, as well as 126 fully-furnished residences. 88 of those will be three-bedroom units, while the remaining 38 will offer two bedrooms each.

The townhouses are already on sale, and can be used as either a private residence, or can be rented as part of Hilton’s inventory. Hilton will be responsible for the management of bookings, and upkeep of the room, and will give owners a percentage of the earnings in return.

Each townhouse will offer up to 1,560 square feet of living space, and features high-end décor, with a mix of earthy and Caribbean colors and textures throughout the rooms, as well as a private terrace.

The resort which spans over 21 acres, will include a spa, three swimming pools, various restaurants and bars, as well as 400 square feet of entertainment space for private events.

“Introducing Tapestry Collection by Hilton to the beautiful island of Tobago was a natural fit,” said Elizabeth Scruggs, brand leader, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “Tobago is renowned for its rich culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and warm hospitality. Our collection celebrates the individuality of each location, and this resort will truly embody that spirit, offering guests an authentic experience that reflects the vibrant charm and unique character of Tobago.”

While this has not been confirmed, there are rumors suggesting that a jetty may be built nearby to accommodate guests who prefer to sail in on their private yachts. I am not certain if this is part of the hotel developer’s plans, or if this will end up being a government project.
