Cayman Airways has opened up bookings for scheduled flights to its newly announced destination, Barbados, along with its planned additional service to Los Angeles.
Cayman Airways new flights to Barbados
Recently, the airline announced plans to expand to Barbados (BGI), initially launching one weekly non-stop flight between Grand Cayman (GCM) and Barbados starting from mid-October. The schedule is as follows:
- Grand Cayman – Barbados – Wednesdays (starting October 18, 2023)
- Barbados – Grand Cayman – Wednesdays (starting October 18, 2023)
From November 7, 2023, the schedule bumps up to twice per week as follows:
- Grand Cayman – Barbados – Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Barbados – Grand Cayman – Wednesdays and Fridays
These flights will be operated with their fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
Regarding the expansion, Cayman Islands Minister of Tourism and Ports Kenneth Bryan said, “I am very excited to announce this new, historic route which connects the Cayman Islands in the Western Caribbean and Barbados in the Southeast. The launch of this direct service not only fosters closer ties between our two countries but also provides regional travellers with seamless connectivity that will be cheaper, faster and more convenient than anything currently on the market. I look forward to this partnership having a positive impact on the tourism sectors of both the Cayman Islands and Barbados, and I am pleased that our national airline, Cayman Airways is being strategically leveraged to provide this much anticipated new service.”
Passengers flying from Barbados also have good connecting options to other Cayman Airways destinations including Jamaica, Miami, Cayman Brac and even LAX (among others).
Addition Cayman Airways flight to Los Angeles
Currently the airline operates one weekly flight to Los Angeles (LAX), flying in on Saturdays and turning around the next day. From November 8, Cayman will add additional MAX 8 service as follows:
- Grand Cayman – Los Angeles – Wednesdays (starting November 8, 2023)
- Los Angeles – Grand Cayman – Thursdays (starting November 9, 2023)
As mentioned above, the additional LAX flight now means that passengers can also fly direct from Los Angeles to Barbados with a short connection in Grand Cayman.
