InterCaribbean Airways welcomes its first Embraer E170 to its fleet, with two more expected for delivery in the near future. The airline is planning to acquire a total of eight E170s.

The aircraft registered VQ-TCI flew into Providenciales (PLS) this evening from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL). Besides the traditional livery, the tail features the country’s coat of arms, which is made up of a flamingo, lobster, queen conch shell, Turk’s Head cactus, as well as a pelican sitting on top of hear armor and a shield.

Dubbed the “Spirit of Turks and Caicos Islands, the tail cone also features ribbon with “Turks and Caicos Islands” inscribed on it.

In May 2025, the carrier announced plans to acquire eight Embraer E170 jets, each with 76 seats, which will be used to replace their older E145s, and enter the U.S. market. So far, the carrier has leased at least three aircraft that we publicly know about (VQ-TCI, VQ-TNS and VQ-THG), all of which previously flew for EgyptAir.

The E170s have much more range compared to the E145s, allowing the airline to easily penetrate new destinations as far as the U.S. Midwest and parts of Canada. InterCaribbean is also considering flying to destinations across Central America, but has so far declined to say where exactly they have in mind.
