The Fountains of Bellagio may be one of those most iconic attractions in the United States, and has been featured in a number of films and TV shows including Ocean’s Eleven.
Created and operated by WET Design, the musical fountain uses more than 1,200 powerful nozzles to shoot water into the air as high 460 feet, synchronized to a number of popular past and present melodies. The iconic attraction is the second largest fountain globally, following behind the Dubai Fountain which was also designed by WET.
Stopping by the Fountains of Bellagio is a must if you’re visiting Las Vegas, with unique nightly displays every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. On weekdays, there are shows every 30 minutes from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., while displays start from midday to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Changing themes a bit, it’s no secret that Marriott recently added a number of high end MGM Resorts properties to its Luxury Collection. This also meant that they could tailor Las Vegas-themed customized hotel and experience packages.
As part of the Marriott Bonvoy Moments packages, one customer shelled out 2.4 million Bonvoy points in order to work directly with the WET team to choreograph his own fountain show.
“The Fountains of Bellagio celebrated a milestone with the debut of its 40th show, set to “Beautiful Day” by U2 and choreographed by Marriott Bonvoy Elite member, Scott Krupa. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Krupa had been waiting for the perfect Marriott Bonvoy Moment to tap into his points to make his bid – and now he is part of the Fountains’ history.”
When asked to respond about being selected to run the show, Krupa said:
“When I discovered this incredible Marriott Bonvoy Moments opportunity to choreograph the Fountains of Bellagio show, I couldn’t resist, and I eagerly redeemed my points for an experience beyond anything I had ever imagined,” said Krupa. “Being able to express my creativity through the Fountains is something I will cherish forever. I carefully considered not only the visual impact of the show, but the emotions it would evoke in the huge crowds that constantly gather to watch.”
Unfortunately it seems that controlling the fountain won’t be an everyday thing as Krupa’s very expensive package is not available for the time being, however there are a number of different experiences guests can bid for. Keep in mind the advertised points are just starting offers and you must win the bid in order to claim the package.
For instance, you can bid to watch Formula 1 in Austin with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team. When this package was initially advertised, it opened with a bid price of 20,000 points. 88 bids later and the highest bidder has put in an offer of 402,500 points.
Many argue its not the best spend of money, but given that it’s an experience and not just a hotel stay, some argue that they don’t mind dumping their points into one of these experiences if they have a lot to part with.
Marriott did they say that they look forward to working with the Bellagio to offer similar options in the future, and promised that other Formula 1-themed packages soon to be made available in time for the November F1 Grand Prix.
