Emerald Airlines UK (Aer Lingus Regional) ATR 72-600 Nose Gear Collapses After Hard Landing

On December 22, 2024, an Emerald Airlines UK ATR 72-600 landed nose first at Belfast City Airport (BHD) after completing a ferry flight from Edinburgh (EDI). At the time, there were light showers and gusts up to to 38 knots blowing from the north-northwest.

After the aircraft landed nose first, the nose gear collapsed, before making a hard landing on its main gear. The ATR porpoised, and the damaged nose section struck the ground again before quickly coming to a stop.

The Emerald Airlines UK aircraft registered G-CMMK operates regional flights for Aer Lingus Regional. Thankfully none of the crew members were injured, but the aircraft suffered significant damage to both the nose and main gear.

Lufthansa 787s deliveries delayed due to Allegris business class seat certification issues

Most airlines outfitting their cabins with new seats tend to purchase tried and tested products, adding their own variation to suit their cabin design. Lufthansa on the other hand decided to work with various partners to build completely new “Allegris” branded seats for all its cabins.

After years of delays, they were finally able to launch its Allegris cabin in September on one of their newly delivered Airbus A350s. Of course the highlight of that event was the missing first-class cabin.

Now it seems that the airline has encountered another roadblock, this time regarding their Collins Aerospace-built Allegris Boeing 787 business-class seats. According to reports, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not certified these business class seats as they are still pending a crash test rating.

It’s not clear whether these tests were not conducted yet, or if the seats failed the crash test, but the pending rating has delayed the delivery of 13 of Lufthansa’s Dreamliners. Just to clarify, this is not a 787 issue, but specific to the Collins Aerospace seats being built for the Lufty’s 787s. The equivalent A350 seats are manufactured by Thompson Aero.

Cessna Citation Mustang all light up for the holidays

In the spirit of the holidays, this year’s trend seems to be covering your supercar with strings of Christmas lights. The folks at GlobeAir have done the same, but instead they’ve done so with one of the Cessna Citation Mustangs.

The private jet was also paired up with two Christmas-themed Audi R8s. Hopefully they used paint-safe tape.
