BermudAir’s Very Massive And Interesting Expansion

Bermuda’s little startup BermudAir began operations in mid-2023, originally promising all-business class flights to the United States. However, as time went on, they would eventually switch a traditional business and economy class model, implementing a European-style business class cabin (a.k.a there are some blocked seats in the basically all-economy configuration).
Over the years, they’ve made very regular route adjustments, trying out new cities and stopping service on less profitable routes. They also do their occasional charters during the low season. Currently they fly to a number of each coast cities in the U.S., and have plans of expanding out of a new base in Anguilla (AXA) under their AnguillAir brand.

The carrier has now announced plans to fly to Belize (BZE), Guatemala (GUA) and Turks and Caicos (PLS) from late December 2026. According to the schedule, the airline will launch flights from Turks and Caicos / Providenciales to Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), Baltimore (BWI), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and St. Petersburg/Tampa (PIE).
Belize City (BZE) will also get a bit of attention with flights coming from Boston, Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando Sanford (SFB), and St. Petersburg/Tampa (PIE). Anguilla will also see an addition flight to include St. Petersburg/Tampa, while there will be a lone direct flight to Guatemala City (GUA) from Boston (with a stop in Belize).
This expansive route network is possible due to the fact that Bermuda, Anguilla, and Turks and Caicos are all British Overseas Territories, while Belize is a former British Overseas Territory. As flights technically will originate in Bermuda and Turks and Caicos (under BermudAir) and Anguilla (under AnguillAir), they do have the ability to use its fifth freedom rights to stop in the listed U.S. destinations before continuing on to Belize.
There’s also another interesting change. BermudAir currently serves Orlando (MCO), but plans to switch operations to Orlando Sanford (SFB) from October 2026, in time for the launch of its Belize flights at the end of the year.
“We’re thrilled to continue expanding our Caribbean network as the premium leisure carrier from North America,” said Adam Scott, Founder and CEO of BermudAir. “Our customers are ranking us with industry-leading satisfaction scores. Together with Bermuda, we now connect U.S. travelers to some of the region’s most exceptional and sought-after island destinations.”
I admit I’m not quite sure what to make of this expansion. I can see the potential for Anguilla and Turks and Caicos, but Belize already has good connectivity to the United States. At least Floridians will have more options to visit the Placencia coastline.
It’s clear the company realizes that limiting itself to Bermuda is not profitable, and is taking a big bet on rapidly expanding operations in an effort to move towards profitability. For now, they still seem to be depending on cash injections as they raised outside financing, including a $1 million bond in 2024 and a $3 million revenue-share note in 2025. BermudAir’s fleet consists of two Embraer E175 and two E190 jets.
